I want to join Atheist Ireland but cannot find how to do it on your website. Please contact me.
Is my membership up to date?
Yes Brendan, your not due for renewal till june 1st 2015
I have been an atheist for 40 years but never felt threatened by my non belief until the rise of entities like I S. I feel that if we do not work to secularise Irish society and disenfranchise ideas like Religion is a good and benign experience, the we Humanists will have ourselves to blame if and when Sharia Law envelopes us and as history shows, will be impossible to unshackle ourselves from.
I always understood blasphemy was a victimless crime.
I’ve never felt the need to donate to organisations like this, but after researching the presence of the catholic church in Ireland, I would feel guilty if I didn’t give any money to help them. Keep fighting!
How do I join, when I click to find the form the same page keeps coming up.
Click on the registration tab at the top of the page to join.
the RC Church is alive and well in Ireland and waiting to make a comeback to their happy days of theocracy.
See latest developements in Poland where the RC Church are trying the same now that the right wing JUSTICE (catholic) PARTY have regained power….the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. ..
This is the space-age not the bronze-age!
What are we Irish doing worshipping some archaic, Judaic, mythological ludicrous, nonsense that makes no reference to us – crazy or what?
“Faith is believing what U know ain’t so!” Mark Twain.
Slán go fóill
I’m considering joining, but I would prefer to get a face to face flavour of the tone and tenor before doing so.
While raised catholic, some 40ish years ago when I was a kid, I discovered that Santa was not real, I experienced that “wait a minute” moment, does that not apply to your deity of choice also? After all, Santa leaves tangible gifts, deities do not as a rule. Oh, except for things like “grace” and “blessings” which cannot be defined in any way. I have been an active atheist online for a long time. Perhaps it is time to be an active atheist in flesh and blood. Meet like minded people and so forth.
Suggestions? I would like to know what I am getting into before committing to it.
We host regular events around the country, which you can find on the event section of our website. Typcically you will find people at the information table who can fill you in on what Atheist Ireland does. You can also informally meet up and share a meal and chat at our brunches. For example the Dublin information table is on the first Saturday every month and the Dublin brunch is on the second Sunday of every month. You are more than welcome to drop in to either/both and say hi.
Any chance I could do this by standing order from my bank instead of via paypal (which I don’t use)?
Hi Ben, you can take out a pay by cheque membership then email me at secretary@atheist.ie with the bank reference of your standing order – use the invoice number on your cheque option for the reference. You can find our bank details on our donate page – please use the bank account listed that ends in 1844. I will mark your membership as complete once your payment has been confirmed by our bank.
